The Chicago drum store Vic’s Drum Shop announced that as of Dec. 4, it will close it’s brick-and-mortar doors and move to online-only sales. The store had been in business for the past eight years.

An email sent to customers on Dec. 4 read, “We are putting the pieces in place to continue to provide service and repairs at our Music Garage location, and we will announce the logistics of how that will operate once we have them. If you have an outstanding special order, layaway or gift card with us, do not worry, everything will be honored. The same goes for completed repairs.”

The shop will provide updates on social media “as we push through the changes that we need to make to move forward in the modern economic landscape,” read the email. The website will remain vicsdrumshop.com.

Vic’s did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

Below is a gif from Drum!’s visit last year to Vic’s. The shop layout featured many rooms and a community atmosphere. The building also hosted rehearsal and recording spaces, hence the elevator.
