In the early 1970s, a 17-year-old aspiring drummer named John Good signed up for lessons at a Santa Monica, California studio called Drum Workshop. Now, some 40 years later, he’s the vice president of one of the largest drum companies in the world and has earned the moniker “The Wood Whisperer” for his passion for hunting exotic and storied trees from around the world to make into drums.
